At the foot of a barren hill in Ajmer, is situated India's most important Pilgrimage centre for people from all faith. Ajmer-e-Sharif is a splendid tomb of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, more popularly known as Khwaja Sharif. The shrine is next only to Mecca or Medina for the Muslims of South Asia. The mausoleum of Ajmer-e-Saris has a huge gate, which was built by the Nizam of Hyderabad. The two massive caldrons, large pot that is used for boiling in the courtyard are of particular interests and on the right side of the courtyard is the Akabari Masjid built in white marble.

In the corner of the inner court of the Dargah, is a magnificent mosque built by Shahjahan in white marble with a long (30.5) and narrow court having low arcade and delicate carvings with trellis work. It is the most marvellous of all the sanctums within the sanctuary of the Dargah.

Ursa - The Major Attraction
The major attraction of the mausoleum is during the Ursa, commemorating the death anniversary of the Saint, held from the 1st to 6th day of the Islamic month, when the shrine attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the world.

How to Reach Ajmer-e-Sharif
The nearest airport is Jaipur which is 135 kms away. Ajmer is on the Delhi-Jaipur-Marwar-Ahmedabad-Mumbai line and most trains stops at Ajmer. It is connected with bus from all places like Jaipur, Agra, Aligarh, Abu road, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Barmer, Haridwar, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Nagaur.
